Criteria
Eligibility Criteria: The grant is open to residents of Jefferson County. Grants are awarded only to organizations with non-profit status (IRS 501c3). Small groups and individuals may submit applications using a Jefferson County non-profit organization as the fiscal agent.

What we are looking for proposals that match one of these five project areas:
1) Raising awareness of culture in the areas of arts, heritage or humanities.
2) Preserving and strengthening the environment for culture.
3) Strengthening the overall health of existing non-profit organizations and other groups or businesses that directly impact culture.
4) Increasing and supporting a healthy financial environment and support system for individuals in cultural professions.
5) Increasing the awareness and opportunities of culture for youth.

Funds Available and Size of Grants: For fiscal year 2008, over $6,300 total is available. Typically, the range of grants awarded is $300 to $1,500.

Review Process: The JCCC Board meets in January to review all grant applications and selects awardees. All recipients will be notified by February 1, 2009. We use the following evaluation criteria.

Evaluation Criteria: Proposals will be scored using the following 100 point breakdown:
- Need/importance/enhancement = 25 points
- Project completion plan/summary = 25 points
- Adequacy of resources = 25 points
- Meets other criteria = 25 points

Grant Guidelines: Grant Guidelines are provided. Please review these prior to submitting your proposal.

Post-award requirements:
1) All projects must be completed by December 30, 2009. The board will consider requests for deadline extensions.
2) Grant recipients are expected to make a brief presentation to the board at a special meeting in October 2009.
3) Grant recipients are requested to submit the [financial report] form upon completion of the project, or at the October special meeting.

 New Projects Approved in 2008

  • Jefferson County Arts Association received funds to conduct art classes for children ages 8-12.
  • Friends of Jefferson County Library Fair & Book Sale received funds to purchase and erect a weather-secure shed for storing books.
  • Jefferson County Community Read received funds to support the 2008 Community Read author visit.
  • The Kids Club of Jefferson County received funds for supplies to offer art classes to kids.
  • Jefferson County Library Endowment Foundation received funds to cover printing costs for the newly published Library District History Book.
  • Jefferson County Historical Society & Museum received funds for its "Agate - Journeys in Jefferson County Heritage" newsletter.
  • Juniper Branch Family Finders received funds to make a genealogical abstract of old Jefferson Co. estate records.
